Me Made Meh

Um, I pretty much failed at documenting Me Made May.  I'm not even sure my attempt deserves a blog post, but here it is.  And some general ramblings about it.  If you'd like to see my sad flickr set, go here.

I did wear at least one me made item everyday, but I fell flat when it came to taking photos.  And to be completely honest, I was kind of underwhelmed with my stuff.  The weather really warmed up here.  I brought out some of my summery stuff and I wasn't too excited about it.   I dunno.  I've been rather restless this month in general-- ready to be out of school for summer (still two more days...).   What does that mean?  Does it mean I need to spend my summer vacation sewing a brand new, exciting wardrobe?!
Tell me yes, please.  Enable away, friends.

My new Liberty blouse wins extra points for being worn four times this month.  Methinks I need more things made from Liberty ;).  And all my quilting cotton skirts are very user friendly, especially in hot weather.  And from my collage above- man, do you think I like pink?  I never really thought of myself as a pink person.

Anyhoo, I hope your Me Made May was more exciting than mine.  I  thoroughly enjoy the whole experience each time.   I think the idea of stitchers across the world uniting for one month of self made goodness is terribly inspiring.   Now I just need some time to sew....

Happy weekend!

  1. Yes!

That dark shade of pink looks great on you. And I feel you on end of year blah. When I was teaching, I always felt there was a moment when I might turn on my students and they might turn on me, when all we wanted was summer :) It's around the corner!

  2. I agree, I love the idea that so many people from all over are doing this, but I definitely got tired about half way through. Next time I should just do every other day, or 4 days a week so I don't feel obligated (that was my main issue).

  3. You look amazing in that bright pink! Keep wearing it! I also like the spirit of solidarity MMMay inspired. Its fun to know that other people all over are wondering how else they can wear they're me-made garments after feeling all wardrobe creativity is totally tapped! At least thats how I'm feeling by the end!

  4. I think the top row is my favorite. I was sorting through my closet the other day because I wanted to give away the clothes I wasn't wearing anymore and noticed how my pile mainly consisted of self made clothes. A sad realisation, but sometimes I feel like sewing is also some kind of fast fashion. I can make it, so why don't I give it a try? If I end up liking it, that's great but if I don't it doesn't really matter because I used stash fabric or something like that. I've got to go think about that.

    1. I know what you mean. I've noticed that some things I make end up being donated pretty quick. I need to figure out how to make more of those items that I love and wear repeatedly.

  5. You're too hard on yourself! I liked seeing what you wore during MMM and missed your posts to flickr towards the end. It DOES get to be a bit tiresome by about day 15, and it can waste a lot of my time trying to be inspired to wear something me-made every day. But it's about "a long road in the same direction" - y'know, adding things you like each year, and hopefully more than not are keepers - to get to the place where 99% of your wardrobe is me-made and therefore options abound. I am so not there yet, and could never do a me-made challenge for a colder month. And I'm totally enabling you to sew all day, every day all summer!

  6. Exactly like you, I failed to photograph all the way through. I did wear my me mades so I see it as a accomplished challenge :)

  7. Congrats! I have never done a Me-Made month before... I don't think I have enough pieces to wear something every day (unless it was winter and I wore my coat everyday... but I don't think that would count). I have to agree with the other comments - you look awesome in bright happy colors. Can't wait to see what you sew up this summer!

  8. LIberty is Lovely indeed. The only reason I've shied away from MMM is the whole photography thing... especially as here in the southern hemisphere I leave for work whilst it's dark and get home in the dark as well, making interesting photos a wee bit difficult. Good on you for trying though ;) Funny how a series of pictures of self-made garments shows up colours you didn't think you had so much of though!

  11. Love all these outfits! The photography is too much for me, which is why I haven't participated in one of these months. Enjoy your summer!

  12. Why Meh? I think your outfits are fab - you look comfy in them & they suit you with lots of varierty. I also think you look great in that deep pink, what a cute pink dress ! And by contrast, the pink top on the 27th looks awesome with jeans. Well done, & less of the beating yourself up please. You completed it :-)
